We're ABA Practitioners

Applied Behaviour Analysis is a science that helps individuals living with Autism and related disorders. It involves applying techniques based on the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors. ABA seeks to identify the relationship between behavior and the environment, and then apply interventions that alter these environmental factors to bring about positive changes in behavior.

About Autism

What is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges in social communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors. The severity and manifestations of autism can vary widely, leading to the term "spectrum" to describe the range of symptoms.

Diagnosis

Key Aspects of Autism Diagnosis: Early Signs:Signs of autism often appear in early childhood, typically before the age of three. These may include delayed speech and language development, limited eye contact, difficulties in understanding social cues, and repetitive movements like hand-flapping.Diagnostic Criteria:The diagnosis of autism is based on criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). The key criteria include persistent deficits in social communication and interaction, along with restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities. Early diagnosis is crucial as it allows for early intervention, which can significantly improve outcomes in areas such as communication, social skills, and adaptive behavior.Comorbidities:Many individuals with autism may also experience co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, or sensory processing issues, which can impact the diagnostic process and treatment planning.

School Inclusion

This involves integrating children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) into mainstream educational settings and social environments alongside their typically developing peers. The goal of inclusion is to provide children with autism the opportunity to participate in the same activities, learn the same curriculum, and interact with peers in a supportive and accommodating environment.Key Components of Inclusion:Educational Inclusion:General Education Classroom: Children with autism are placed in general education classrooms rather than segregated special education classes. They receive instruction alongside their neurotypical peers.Individualized Support: To ensure success, children with autism may receive accommodations, such as modified assignments, additional time for tasks, or the support of a special education teacher or aide within the classroom.Differentiated Instruction: Teachers use various teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including those with autism.Social Inclusion:Peer Interaction: Inclusion promotes meaningful interactions between children with autism and their peers, fostering social skills, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

Interdisciplinary Approach

We do collaborative sessions with other professionals such as occupational therapists, educators, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive approach to communication development is followed with visible positive outcomes.

Boarding Facility

We have boarding facility - home away from home for those in diaspora or those that stay far from the intervention centre. However, we have limited space for boarders. This small community of friends makes life enjoyable as they share common interests in socialization.

Your Donation Can Make Huge Difference!

Autism Mirror has been on a charity mission subsidizing therapy fees and in some cases taken up full fees from parents just to ensure their treasures get necessary intervention. You could join this community by donating and putting smiles on parents faces.
